Vivian Audett 1928-2022

August 29, 2023 By Jacqueline Banks

Our memories will live on forever. Vivian was born in Seattle on January 16th 1928 and passed away peacefully at her home on Lake Sammamish on December 1st 2022. She was a loving Mother of four, true friend to so many. Caring, loving, supportive, compassionate, selfless, family-oriented, with the most beautiful soul. Her home was always an open door to all and she made everyone feel loved, cared for, comfortable and welcome.

Her passion and love of Skiing started at a very young age with her Father “One Chain Ernie Garman” (happy to share the story of Ernie anytime) taking her and her brother and friends Skiing up to Stevens Pass in the late 30’s and to Mount Rainier for Ski Races, she also lived in Sun Valley for a short time. Her Skiing continued when she married her Loving Husband Art Audett in 1950.

Her Skiing success with Art was legendary, they were the dynamic duo! Together they started and ran many successful Ski Schools. Beginning in the late 40’s through the 50’s at Lookout Pass in Idaho working at the Mountain and running the Free Ski School program. They lived in Wallace and Kellogg Idaho and had their four wonderful children there. Enjoying the Mountains in the winter and Lake Coeur d’Alene in the Summers.

Back to Washington in the 60’s to build a custom home in Kenmore and begin the Audett Ski School at Stevens Pass that was a success for many years. Missing Idaho and their friends they would spend a month every summer skiing and boating at Lake Coeur d’Alene and the other part of summer boating on the Sound and Lake Sammamish. Which is where they bought their Cabin on Lake Sammamish in 1971!

Next in the 70’s it was off to live at Crystal Mountain, building their dream home at the base of the Mountain with a view of the resort. Vivian and Art ran the Resident Crystal Mtn Ski School for 9 years. The best life ever, Winters living at Crystal Mtn and the Summers at their house on Lake Sammamish!

Two of her children moved to Alaska and then in the 80’s the duo moved to the great white north too! One more Ski Resort to work at before retirement. Alyeska Resort in Girdwood AK, where they lived and worked for the Ski Resort and also started a new business. It was a fun, exciting, and beautiful state with so many places to explore.

One last move, back to Washington in the 90’s returning to her beloved Lake House on Lake Sammamish where she spent many wonderful days swimming, sunning on her deck, boating, having many fun filled lake parties and pursuing family adventures.

Her life was full, she loved her friends and family dearly. She cherished her children and loved each one unconditionally.

Bob Audett (Trudy) of Florida, Dan Audett of Seattle, Steve Audett (Julie) of Kent, Karen Audett (John) of Redmond. She was always happy to see and very proud of her 9 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren.

Mom, we love you every day and now we will miss you every day. You kept us all together and taught us family values we will hold onto forever. Because of you and your love for us, we are who we are today.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.Evergreen-Washelli.com for the Audett family.
