Despite a challenging drought across much of the western U.S., Sun Valley delivered in true form for our annual Reunion—serving up exceptional skiing all week long! While other resorts faced limited terrain, Sun Valley’s world-class snowmaking kept Baldy in prime condition, giving us beautiful groomers and sunny skies to enjoy. The only thing missing? Enough snow for our NASTAR race—but with conditions that good, our skiers took the cancellation in stride.
We kicked off the Reunion Week in style with a lively Welcome Party at the Boiler Room. The energy in the room was unmistakable—friends reconnecting, big smiles, warm hugs, and that familiar buzz of planning ski days and après gatherings. There’s something truly special about the friendships built here year after year, all rooted in a shared love of skiing.
Tuesday night brought us to Ketchum’s Wood River Museum of History and Culture for our Margaritas & History evening. Surrounded by rich ski heritage, members enjoyed great conversation, delicious margaritas, and a deeper appreciation for the legacy we’re all part of. This year, we were even featured by a local reporter from Eye on Sun Valley, who captured the spirit of the event. (Search “Eye on Sun Valley Ancient Skiers 2026” to check it out!)
All week long, we were treated to light crowds, comfortable temperatures, bluebird skies, and those signature Sun Valley “hero snow” groomers—truly a skier’s dream.
The week wrapped up with our Western Banquet Dinner on Friday evening—and what a celebration it was! One of the highlights was welcoming a large group of first-time attendees and new members. Seeing so many new faces join this incredible community was a reminder that the spirit of Ancient Skiers continues to grow strong.
The evening was filled with laughter and connection, including a fun trivia segment as Mike Hurley was asked to help from the stage. As he called on attendees to name their favorite Baldy runs, each answer sparked a fun historical story behind the trail names—bringing together storytelling, nostalgia, and a few friendly debates – as well as welcomed additional commentary from fellow member and ski historian, John Lundin!
We wrapped up the night on the dance floor with the Kim Stocking Band, whose high-energy performance kept the party going later than we’ve seen in years. Safe to say—they were a hit and will be back again in 2027!
