Patrick William Flood passed away at his home in Yakima, Washington on August 28, 2025. Patrick was born in Seattle May 5, 1964, to Marilyn Allen and Leo Timothy Flood. The Floods moved in 1968 to Chelan, Washington.
Patrick’s family’s foremost passion was and still is skiing. His parents ran the Mt Si Ski School for many years, which enabled the Flood children to learn to ski along with the children of family and friends hired by Tim as ski instructors. In Chelan, Patrick spent many years skiing at Echo Valley and Mission Ridge. Patrick graduated from University of Washington with a BFA in Graphic Design in 1987. In college and beyond, Patrick continued to ski and was an instructor and ski patrol at Alpental Ski Area.
Patrick and his wife settled in Sandpoint, Idaho, raising their 4 children. They skied at Schweitzer and Patrick’s routine each year included skinning up Schweitzer and skiing down before the lifts opened.
Patrick joined his father Tim Flood and stepmother Mary Flood and sister Shawn Flood Brown for many years at the annual reunion at Sun Valley during Ancient Skiers week, joining the club several years ago. Patrick was a funny person and laughter was the accompaniment to enduring challenging days on the ski hill. His joy in skiing made him a favorite ski partner of many.
In recent years, Patrick was living in east Idaho and he was an instructor at Pebble Creek Ski Area. He loved instructing young children how to ski and just as important, how to correctly fall! Patrick is predeceased by his mother Marilyn Allen Flood and brothers Timothy and Jeffrey Flood. He is survived by his 4 children and 6 grandchildren. Patrick is also survived by his parents, father Leo Timothy Flood and stepmother Mary Flood of Chelan, Washington; and sister Shawn Flood Brown of Tacoma, Washington.
