Dick Reininger 1925 – 2021

February 10, 2021 By Jacqueline Banks

Richard (Dick) Reininger was born in 1925 in Stamford Connecticut. Dick started skiing 1935 where he was a Nordic ski jumper in high school and college and lettered in both ski racing and ski jumping. Dick was an avid skier who volunteered over 42+ years with the National Ski Patrol, climbed major peaks in WY and WA.  He was active in KC Search/Rescue with his Golden Retriever Rascal who was the very first Search and Rescue dog at Crystal Mountain. Dick and Rascal traveled the Northwest and the world on searches and training other dogs.  Dick and his wife Phyllis lived full lives together for over 70 years.  Dick passed away January 4, 2021, followed by Phyllis 5 days later. A true friend of retired Crystal Mt Volunteer Ski Patrollers among many others.
